GAMIAN-Europe Boosts Patient-Centric Research: Don’t miss Psych-STRATA’s Video Series

We are excited to unveil a new video series, developed by GAMIAN-Europe and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) as part of the European Commission-funded project: Psych-STRATA. Now available on Psych-STRATA’s YouTube channel, the series presents a collection of seven multilingual interviews, conducted in German, Dutch, Italian, French, Spanish, and English. These discussions are designed to engage a worldwide audience, providing insights into the latest advancements in personalised mental health research.

The series launches with insights from Professor Bernhard Baune, the Project Coordinator of Psych-STRATA. He introduces the project’s pioneering goals that aim to reshape mental health care with personalised treatment solutions. Through these engaging interviews, viewers will gain an understanding of the innovative approaches being explored to enhance mental health therapies tailored to individual needs.

We highlight the interview of Erik Van der Eycken, project manager at GAMIAN-Europe, who co-leads Psych-STRATA’s Work Package 6 with LMU. Erik’s involvement underscores the importance of integrating patient and stakeholder perspectives in the development of mental health treatments. Under his leadership, the Patient Advisory Board (PAB), consisting of patient experts, plays a crucial role in evaluating digital health tools and contributing to the development of the ‘Shared Decision Making Mental Health Board.’ This initiative is designed to foster cooperative decision-making processes between patients and healthcare providers, enhancing clinical practices.

Erik Van der Eycken is a passionate mental health advocate with extensive experience in representing patient interests. He is a board member at ‘Ups & Downs,’ an organisation for individuals with bipolar disorder, and participates in OpGanG, a support group for those with mental health challenges in Belgium. Erik has been actively engaged in EU-funded mental health research since 2014, emphasising patient integration and dissemination.
